Kirinyaga Mother Cries as Form 3 Daughter Disappears after Leaving Home for Salon: “Namtafuta”

A mother from Ngurubaini, Mwea, Kirinyaga County, is devastated as her young daughter has been missing for several days.

Shirleen Wambui, a Form Three student at Mugumo Girls High School, disappeared on Friday, January 3, leaving her family in distress.

A Mother’s Heartbreak
Grace Migwi, the mother of two, is desperately searching for her firstborn child, whom she last saw before heading to work that Friday morning. Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Grace recounted her final conversation with her 16-year-old daughter.

“We had agreed she would visit the salon for a hair makeover. I gave her money for it, and I was sure we’d see each other again in the evening after work,” Grace shared emotionally.

Shirleen had also expressed an interest in visiting a children’s home to donate clothes she no longer used. This act of kindness was characteristic of her caring nature, Grace explained.

The Disappearance
According to neighbors, Shirleen was last seen leaving home at around 3:30 p.m. However, she never returned.

“When I came back from work, she wasn’t home. I waited, hoping she’d show up, but as time passed, I grew more worried,” Grace recalled.

Grace’s attempts to locate her daughter proved futile. Shirleen does not own a phone, making it impossible to contact her. When Grace called the salon where Shirleen was supposed to go, the salonist informed her that the business was closed due to a funeral.

To Grace’s dismay, upon checking Shirleen’s closet, she discovered that only her favorite clothes were missing—those she frequently wore.

Seeking Help
Grace has reported the matter to the police but has yet to receive any updates or new leads on her daughter’s whereabouts. The uncertainty has left the family anxious and longing for answers.

As the search for Shirleen continues, the family is appealing to the public for any information that might help bring their beloved daughter home safely.
