Political commentator Kasmuel has called out ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna for what he termed as a weak response following Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga’s controversial remarks.
According to Kasmuel, at a time when the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) needed a strong and decisive voice to defend the party and its late leader Raila Odinga, Sifuna’s statement lacked firmness and conviction.
“When we needed a firm voice for ODM after Kahiga’s remarks, Sifuna issued a very weak statement, leaving everything to Gladys Wanga,” Kasmuel said.
He went on to praise Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga for stepping up and defending the party’s position with courage and clarity. Wanga has in recent days been vocal, dismissing attempts by political rivals to undermine the party’s unity and legacy.
Kasmuel’s comments have ignited debate within ODM circles, with some supporters agreeing that the party needs stronger communication and leadership, while others defended Sifuna, saying he has always been strategic in handling sensitive political matters.
