Treasury CS John Mbadi has sparked reactions after making candid remarks about his personal financial stability and political future.
Speaking during a public engagement, Mbadi said holding office is not about survival for him, insisting that he has worked for many years and secured his livelihood.
“Sio lazima nifanye kazi ndio nikule. Hata mkitutoa in 2027 niende nyumbani si bado nitakula! Ama mnaona nitakufa na njaa? I have worked for many years, I have enough! What I want is a progressive Kenya,” he said.
Mbadi emphasized that his focus in public service is not personal gain but contributing to national progress. He noted that leadership positions are temporary and ultimately depend on the will of the people.
His remarks have drawn mixed reactions, with some praising his confidence and others arguing that leaders should remain sensitive to the economic struggles many Kenyans are currently facing.
