A parent at Adiedo Mixed Secondary School in Homa Bay has brought six chickens to school in an effort to reduce her children’s outstanding fees totaling Sh245,000.
Consolata Aoko Oduya, a resident of Karachuonyo, admitted that she has been struggling to pay the fees since her children joined the school in Form One. She also revealed that she had been pleading with the school administration to grant her more time to clear the fees but had not been able to meet the promises she made.
To help reduce the debt, Consolata decided to bring six chickens to the school, each valued at Sh1,000.
Her two children are currently attending the school; one is in Form Three with an outstanding balance of Sh105,000, while the other is in Form Four with Sh140,000 yet to be paid.
The parent hopes this gesture will ease the financial burden and encourage the school to offer some support as she works to clear the fees.
