A headteacher, purportedly 50 years old and identified as Mr. Mukheshi (a pseudonym), created a shockwave among the staff and students at a local school in Bungoma on a Tuesday evening. In a surprising turn of events, he decided to repurpose the school library into a makeshift lodging.
The incident unfolded when a parent, seeking her daughter’s birth certificate copy for the ongoing class eight registration, visited the school. She arrived after the mid-day break, accompanied by a friend. Following instructions from the deputy, the parent left her friend in the waiting area and proceeded to meet the headteacher in the library.
However, the meeting took longer than anticipated, prompting the friend, named Mary, to search for them. She had plans with the parent to visit the market and purchase a few items. Frustrated by the delay, Mary entered the library only to discover the headteacher and her friend engaged in an inappropriate act, with their clothes strewn on the floor.
Shocked and angered, Mary confronted them, expressing her impatience in Swahili, “Hii ndio kitu mnafanya apa na Mimi nakungoja nje?” (Is this what you are doing while I’ve been waiting patiently outside?) The commotion attracted other teachers, who arrived to find the two individuals hastily trying to dress themselves, with the woman attempting to shield her face.
Mary condemned the headteacher’s behavior, questioning, “Huyu mother nampatia mtoto wake aibu gani hii?” (What shame is this that you are subjecting your child to?) Subsequently, several teachers intervened, dispersing the students and escorting the two female parents to the school gate.
Soon after the incident, the headteacher reportedly left the school premises abruptly on his motorbike. Insider information suggests that this wasn’t an isolated occurrence and that the headteacher had been engaging in such inappropriate behavior for some time, ultimately facing the consequences of his actions.
