In an interview on the Mic Cheque podcast, DJ Shiti discussed how having your own money, not just as a man but as a person, earns you respect from others.
“Having your own money is a great thing; relying on free money often ends in tears. I realized this last year when my dad was in the hospital. I saw firsthand how important it is to have your own funds,” DJ Shiti explained.
Sharing his experiences with life’s challenges, DJ Shiti highlighted that being broke is the worst situation you can find yourself in. He pointed out that people often take advantage of your financial struggles, treating you poorly and exploiting you.
“When people realize you’re struggling financially, they treat you badly. It’s crucial to have your own money. When my dad was hospitalized last year, I spent a lot of time there, and I ran out of endorsements and money. People start to look down on you when you have no money,” he said.
He added that having money to pay for basic needs, like rent and meals, is vital. “When you can pay for your house and afford breakfast, lunch, and dinner, it’s a good feeling. There’s nothing worse than begging.”
DJ Shiti also explained the significance of money in relationships. He noted that having some money, even if it’s just a little, is essential for maintaining a relationship because basic needs like food must be met.
“The same applies to women because they also need the basics. If you don’t have the basics, it won’t work out!” DJ Shiti shared.
