Footage shows last minutes of ‘Mama fua’ who fell to her death in Kilimani building

Authorities in Nairobi are continuing to investigate the mysterious death of Zaituni Kavaya, a domestic worker who fell from a building in Kilimani.

A postmortem released to her family confirmed that Kavaya, 54, died from blunt force trauma. Exclusive video footage obtained by Citizen Digital offers new insight into the moments leading up to the tragedy.

The video shows a man in a white shirt briefly holding Kavaya on the fifth floor before letting her go. She then descends to a lower floor, where three women appear to speak with her. Kavaya continues down to the third floor, where she converses with unidentified individuals before the situation takes a fatal turn. At this level, the area is enclosed with glass panels, leaving her with no apparent support.

In the footage, Kavaya is seen wearing a blue outfit marked with red and black patterns.

Following her death, Kavaya’s family and domestic workers’ unions staged a protest from Kibera, where she lived, to the Kilimani building. They later met with Kilimani police commander Patricia Yegon to demand answers.

“We have this case, and we are still investigating. Zaituni will get her justice,” said Commander Yegon.

The public now awaits the results of the investigation to clarify the circumstances surrounding Kavaya’s tragic death.
