A heartbreaking tragedy struck Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital (CGTRH) when a male patient took his own life inside Ward 8 on Sunday.
The patient had recently undergone surgery on his right rib and was reportedly battling severe mental distress due to mounting medical bills and the fear of being detained at the hospital over unpaid expenses.
Fear of Abandonment and Financial Struggles
Sources, including fellow patients, revealed that the deceased had repeatedly voiced concerns about being abandoned by his family, leaving him without the means to settle his hospital bills.
On Sunday, he reportedly used a nylon rope tied to a metal bar above his hospital bed to end his life.
Authorities Launch Investigations
Hospital officials have confirmed the incident, and authorities have since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
