Brown Mauzo on Vera Sidika Breakup: “Both of us Played a Role in killing our Marriage”

Musician Brown Mauzo, born as Fredrick Mutinda, has recently opened up about the conclusion of his marriage to social media personality Vera Sidika, marking the first time he has publicly discussed the matter.

In an interview with a local daily, Mauzo disclosed that his relationship with Vera reached its conclusion in June 2023, with the official announcement of the breakup made in August of the same year.

Mauzo revealed that he had, on multiple occasions before the ultimate separation, temporarily left the marriage due to various reasons that didn’t align with his aspirations. Despite the complexities of their journey, he expressed no regrets and underscored the positive aspects of the relationship, particularly the joy of bringing two beautiful children into their lives.

Describing the marriage as “great” and marked by actions that surpassed his previous experiences, Mauzo acknowledged Vera’s surprising and amazing gestures. He stated, “It was a great marriage, marked by actions that surpassed anything I had experienced before. Vera did things that surprised and amazed me,” as quoted by NTV Kenya.

Mauzo admitted that both he and Vera Sidika bore responsibility for the dissolution of their marriage. Explaining the factors that contributed to the breakdown, he mentioned the impact of time and familiarity in any relationship, stating, “After being together for over a year, you become accustomed to each other.”

He further elaborated, “For instance, actions that initially seemed intimidating might be perceived as a change in the other person. Everyone has their vulnerabilities, but when it appears that the other person is not meeting expectations, it can lead to fatigue in the relationship. This was exactly what happened. Moreover, life often signals that there might be better alternatives outside of the current relationship.”

Contrary to speculation, Mauzo clarified that the marriage did not end due to a single incident, emphasizing that taking Vera’s passport was not the sole cause of their breakup. He noted, “Before deciding to part ways, various factors usually come into play, rather than a single incident, so I cannot solely attribute the break up to Vera’s actions; both of us played a role in the dissolution of our marriage.”

Acknowledging the toll Vera’s activities took on him, Mauzo stated, “We haven’t been flawless, and there were instances when I chose to step away from the marriage.” He mentioned seeking support from Vera’s brother during the final instance, recognizing that things weren’t working well.

“I had attempted to maintain composure, but my mental well-being was compromised. Friends used to send me videos and photos of her activities when we were not together, adding to the pressure. Since announcing the breakup, I no longer receive such updates since our friends are aware that we are no longer together,” he added.

Despite the challenges, Mauzo expressed no regrets about the relationship and emphasized that neither he nor Vera has initiated divorce proceedings. He concluded, “God has plans for why it happened like that… Life has to go on. In the same way, she should not regret it.”
