The turning point in his life occurred in 2020 when he enrolled at Kanga High School armed with nothing but two bars of soap and an empty metal box. His story gained widespread attention, featured on local television and in newspapers.

Against all odds, Levis’s unwavering commitment to education caught the attention of benevolent individuals who generously stepped forward to clear his four-year school fees. Fast forward to the release of the 2023 KCSE results, and the nation erupted in celebration as Levis achieved an outstanding grade of B+.

Another Facebook user commented, “Levis is a reflection of many poor young Kenyans who are lacking a platform to showcase their potential… Congratulations, young man.”

While announcing the 2023 KCSE Exam results, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu revealed a sobering statistic – nearly 50,000 candidates scored the lowest grade, E. Out of the 48,174 candidates who received an E, 19,960 were females, and 28,214 were males.

However, amidst this, a shining beacon of success emerged as 1,216 candidates achieved the highest grade, A. Notably, 889 of these top-performing students hailed from national schools. The report highlighted that a total of 201,133 candidates attained a minimum grade of C+, the entry requirement for university.

Ezekiel Machogu shared an encouraging statistic, stating, “Over 22.27% of 2023 KCSE candidates have attained a direct entry to university.”

Yet, not all stories were filled with triumph. The results revealed that 4,109 candidates faced withheld results due to exam malpractices, while 3,685 candidates missed the exam under unclear circumstances. Despite these challenges, Levis Otieno Rabah’s narrative stands as a beacon of hope, inspiring others to overcome adversity and strive for academic success.
