Ata ujichague IEBC chair, I will still defeat you in 2027 election- Kalonzo to President Ruto

Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has raised concerns over the recent appointment of the IEBC chairperson and commissioners, urging for greater transparency and inclusivity in the process.

Speaking during the burial of Kariobangi North MCA Joel Munuve in Nzeluni, Mwingi West, Kitui County, Kalonzo expressed disappointment that the selections were allegedly made without adherence to the recommendations of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report. He noted that he had written to both President William Ruto and ODM Leader Raila Odinga seeking clarification but had not received a response.

Kalonzo emphasized the importance of fairness in electoral matters, saying no individual should have unilateral control over an institution responsible for overseeing elections. He reassured supporters of the opposition’s readiness for the 2027 General Election and stressed the need for a level playing field.

“Electoral credibility is key to national unity. We are prepared for the next election, and we believe the voice of Kenyans will be heard,” he said.

DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa, who was also present, echoed Kalonzo’s remarks, urging adherence to constitutional principles of consultation and consensus in national processes.

The leaders also commented on the passing of MCA Joel Munuve, who died on April 22, 2025. An autopsy report cited a blood clot as the cause of death, but Kalonzo noted that additional medical tests have been sent abroad for further analysis, saying the opposition is committed to ensuring accountability in such cases.
