Annah Mutheu: Meet Kenya’s Richest Witchdoctor Earning Sh60,000 Per Day in Consultation Fees, Owning Three Lorries and a Petrol Station

Ann Mutheu is recognized as one of the wealthiest practitioners of traditional healing in Kenya. At the age of 39, this mother of three has successfully built a life of opulence, residing in an extravagant residence estimated to be valued at Sh40 million.

In discussing her wealth, Mutheu proudly declares, “My assets are numerous as I am actively involved in real estate investments within the country. I possess three lorries, three public service vehicles, three personal cars, a petrol station, and plots of land in Nakuru, Nairobi, Mombasa, Malindi, and here in Tala.”

Her initiation into the realm of traditional healing was not a matter of choice but rather an inheritance from her parents. Recounting her journey, Mutheu explains, “My mother guided me in the trade, emphasizing that I could excel because the spirit of witchcraft was inherent in me from birth. I have no regrets.”

Despite having only completed eighth grade at Katwii Primary School, Mutheu embraces her title as ‘the boss lady’ in a profession often associated with poverty and destitution. Rather than concealing her success, she boldly showcases her affluence through a lifestyle that includes an array of vehicles, frequent international travel, and a luxurious home featuring a swimming pool.

In contrast to the conventional image of traditional healers living in modest surroundings, Mutheu stands out by maintaining a pristine and comfortable environment. She notes, “Most practitioners in this field live in unkempt places, which is a turn-off. I opted to conduct my business differently, and as a result, clients consistently seek my services. Creating a comfortable atmosphere ensures their return.” She emphasizes her commitment by describing the lavish furniture in her consultation room, including a sofa set worth Sh350,000.

What distinguishes Mutheu further is her unapologetic integration of the Bible into her spiritual practices. She claims that the Bible plays a pivotal role in healing her clients, and she never misses attending church on Sundays.

Mutheu’s success extends beyond her traditional healing practice; she has diversified her investments significantly. Her impressive portfolio encompasses three lorries, three public service vehicles, three personal cars, a petrol station, and plots of land in various cities.

Revealing her client base, Mutheu shares that she attends to a minimum of 60 to 80 clients daily, each paying a Sh1,000 ‘consultation fee.’ This translates to a daily income of at least Sh60,000, totaling Sh1.8 million per month. Her clients range from politicians and businessmen to corporate figures.

In an era marked by technological advancements, Mutheu also caters to international clients by providing services based on photographs sent via WhatsApp or email, showcasing the adaptability of traditional spiritual practices in the digital age.
