A grandmother from Homa Bay County recently drew attention after she showed up at a local school with six chickens, hoping they could be accepted as part payment for her grandchildren’s KSh 245,000 school fees.
The elderly woman said she had no other means but was determined to ensure the children stayed in school. Her situation quickly gained traction online, prompting reactions from concerned Kenyans.
A well-wisher, identified as Nathaniel Odongo, later came forward to assist. He cleared the full amount of the fees and went further to buy essential items for the family.
Many have acknowledged the gesture, with some calling it a positive example of community support.
The grandmother expressed gratitude for the assistance, while the children have since returned to school.
The incident highlights the challenges faced by some families in accessing education and the role of well-wishers in bridging the gap.
