On Sunday a fundraiser in Othaya constituency in Nyeri county shocked the country as hundreds of people came out to support a young man who was helping his father get treatment.
The fundraiser was planned on the internet and to the surprise of many people Kenyans turned out in their hundreds with a majority being the Gen Zs.
People came from different towns for the fundraiser and gave different donations to support Kaluma’s father.
According to speculations, people raised close to Ksh10 million for Kaluma and his family.
The money was in form of money and other gifts like beds, mattresses, house items, a wheelchair for the father, a special bed to help him walk and other house items.
The TikTok community also promised to build Kaluma’s family a new home with plans already in place.
The fundraiser has left Kenyans condemning politicians who think they are the only ones that can mobilize people to a fundraiser.
Some have even said Kenyans can survive without the help of politicians as they add nothing to the society but just cause trouble.
