Ally B’s family has made a formal request to Radio and TV stations, as well as DJs, to refrain from playing his music.
Ally B, whose birth name was Ali Khamisi, has been laid to rest in Mombasa in accordance with Islamic customs. He had left an indelible mark on the Kenyan music landscape, endearing himself to fans from various backgrounds. His untimely departure has left a void in the music industry and in the hearts of many who cherished his soulful melodies.
According to his younger brother, Mohammed Ramadhan, Ally B had been battling pneumonia for the past two weeks. The ordeal began when Ally B was admitted to the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital (CGTRH) for medical treatment. Although he was initially treated and discharged, his symptoms persisted. Mohammed Ramadhan recounted the events leading up to his brother’s unfortunate demise.
“He stayed home for a week and then informed us that he was returning to Kilifi for other commitments. However, on Sunday, he called home, complaining of breathing difficulties. He mentioned that he was experiencing the same condition he had during his previous bout with pneumonia,” said Mr. Ramadhan. Concerned about his deteriorating health and low blood pressure, the family sought medical attention.
Ally B’s health took a tragic turn, with his brother explaining, “We resorted to traditional remedies to help stabilize his blood pressure, and he reported feeling better. We returned home, but shortly after, his wife urgently called me, indicating that my brother, who was in bed, was on the brink of collapsing.” In a race against time, Mohammed Ramadhan did everything in his power to rush his brother to the hospital, even using a tuktuk due to the urgency of the situation.
“When we reached the hospital, I realized that he had passed away. I was cradling him in my lap. We were already at the hospital, and the doctors arrived to declare him deceased. A friend advised me to take him home to avoid mortuary expenses,” he added.
The loss of Ally B is a profound sorrow for his family, friends, and fans who held his music and the man behind the melodies in high esteem.
