President William Ruto has publicly responded to remarks linked to Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi, telling him that political competition should be approached realistically.
Speaking during a public address, Ruto posed a pointed question: “Kama tulishinda wewe kwa polling station yako, sasa nyinyi ndio mtakuja kushindana na mimi?” — loosely translated as, “If we defeated you at your own polling station, are you now the ones coming to compete with me?”
The remarks were widely interpreted as a show of political confidence, referencing past election results to underline his position. Supporters viewed the statement as a bold assertion of strength, while critics described it as part of the ongoing political tensions within Kenya’s leadership circles.
The exchange highlights the simmering differences among senior political figures, even within ranks that were previously aligned. Observers note that such statements signal early positioning ahead of future political contests, as leaders continue to consolidate their support bases across the country.
