Babu Owino has strongly criticized the suspension of Anthony Kibagendi, terming the move unfair and politically motivated.
In a fiery statement, Babu condemned what he described as the “arbitrary suspension” of the Kitutu Chache South lawmaker from Parliament. He argued that the charges leveled against Kibagendi are “trumped up, frivolous, vexatious and limping,” insisting that they lack merit and substance.
Babu maintained that Kibagendi was duly elected by the people of Kitutu Chache South and therefore has a constitutional duty to represent their interests in the National Assembly. According to him, suspending the MP denies constituents their voice in legislative matters and undermines democratic principles.
He called for the immediate and unconditional reinstatement of the legislator, stressing that accountability processes must be fair, transparent, and free from political interference.
The remarks add to growing political debate surrounding the suspension, with allies rallying behind Kibagendi and demanding a review of the decision.
