‎Burale Faces Backlash: “How Can You Advise Women When You Couldn’t Keep Your Own Marriage?”

‎Pastor Robert Burale is once again trending — and not for his sermons or motivational talks. The outspoken preacher, who recently advised women never to tell their partners that their best friend is a man, has come under fire from Kenyans who say he lacks the moral ground to lecture others on relationships.

‎In a video posted on his social media platforms on Sunday, Burale warned women that “no man wants to hear that your best friend is another man.” But what seemed like innocent relationship advice quickly sparked outrage online. Netizens flooded his comment section, questioning why a man whose marriage famously failed believes he is fit to counsel others on love.

‎Many reminded him of his past marriage to Rozina Mwakideu, the sister of media personality Alex Mwakideu, which ended years ago. In previous interviews, Burale himself admitted that the union collapsed due to “too many external voices” interfering with their relationship. Critics now argue that his inability to protect his own marriage should disqualify him from giving relationship lectures.

‎One user commented, “Work on your self-esteem and your own home before preaching to others.” Another added, “You couldn’t handle one woman, yet you’re advising all women in Kenya.” Others accused him of hypocrisy, saying his failed marriage is proof that he should focus on healing rather than teaching.

‎Despite the backlash, Burale remains unapologetic. He insists his experiences give him the wisdom to guide others through the same pitfalls he faced. But online, few seem convinced — with many calling him “a Kenyan version of Andrew Kibe in a suit,” and urging him to stop “using past pain as preaching material.”

‎For now, Burale’s advice may have gone viral, but not for the reasons he intended.
