Residents of Kinoo were left in shock after a strange case was reported at Kinoo Police Station.
A young man dressed in a lady’s school uniform, was taken to the station by a concerned member of the public.
The man introduced himself as Millicent Kemunto, speaking in a soft feminine voice.
He claimed that he had come all the way from Kisii to look for his mother who he said sells vegetables in Kinoo.
To make the story believable,he even gave a phone number that was supposed to belong to his mother.
However, when police tried calling the number,it was found to be switched off.
At first, many believed that the person was truly a young woman in need.
But after long hours of questioning officers at the station discovered the shocking truth.“Millicent” was not a woman at all.
His real name is Kelvin Mong’are a 23-year-old man from Kisii.Kelvin finally confessed that he had been searching for employment in Kinoo.
He explained that he thought dressing up as a woman would help him find a job as a house help or maid more easily.
With limited opportunities and no one to support him,he felt that pretending to be female was his only chance to survive.
This unusual case has caused mixed reactions in the community. Some people sympathize with Kelvin, saying unemployment has pushed many young people into desperate measures.
Others, however feel that his actions were misleading and could cause mistrust.
Police are still following up on the matter but for now,the young man’s story highlights the struggles many youths face while trying to make a living in today’s tough world.
