Just weeks after winning the hearts of Kenyans online, Fardosa, a refugee living at Kakuma camp, has left many disappointed following disturbing revelations about her lifestyle.
Kenyans had rallied behind her with promises of support to transform her life, but it has now emerged that Fardosa is allegedly battling a serious addiction to chang’aa.
In a video that has since gone viral, she appeared heavily intoxicated, struggling to walk or even speak coherently after consuming large amounts of the illicit brew.

According to Shangazi, a woman who has been at the forefront of supporting refugees at Kakuma, Fardosa has been misusing the money and donations sent to her. Instead of using the funds for her upkeep and family, she reportedly spends most of it at chang’aa dens.
“She forgets that she is a mother. Whatever she receives from well-wishers, she takes straight to the sellers for cups of chang’aa,” Shangazi lamented, adding that Fardosa has since been removed from their support group.
Well-wishers are now being urged to consider placing her in a rehabilitation centre, as many believe that is the only way she can be saved from her destructive addiction.
