Kenyan musician and content creator, Nimo Gachuiri, has publicly criticized her husband, Mr. Seed, for his controversial remarks on polygamy. In a recent podcast, Mr. Seed asserted that men are inherently polygamous, stating, “Sisi wanaume tunakuanga watu wako na akili sana” (We men are very intelligent beings). He further explained his viewpoint by sharing an anecdote about being in a relationship for three years, claiming that men can quickly assess if a woman doesn’t meet their desires, and the next day, she might find out that the man has gotten married to someone else.
In the podcast clip, Mr. Seed was seen shaking hands with another individual, seemingly affirming his perspective on male polygamy. Nimo Gachuiri expressed her frustration and displeasure with her husband’s remarks, feeling hurt by the public embarrassment she endured. She mentioned watching only a snippet of the podcast but was angered enough to confront Mr. Seed about his statements. Nimo shared her dismay, stating, “So I saw the snippet of the podcast done by Mr. Seed, him saying whatever he was saying. I didn’t even finish watching it. I was PISSED OFF. So I turned to him and asked, hizi sasa ni nini unasema surely. Next thing I said is that people must really think I am stupid.”
Mr. Seed, in response, felt unfairly judged by those who commented based on a short excerpt of the video. He defended himself by explaining that the controversial statement was taken out of context, emphasizing that the entire discussion lasted an hour, but only 30 seconds were highlighted.
