The Wanyama family, led by Macdonald Mariga and Victor Wanyama, have joined forces to construct a state-of-the-art multimillion-dollar football facility in Kenya. Situated in Busia County, the academy is equipped with cutting-edge football equipment, aiming to elevate Kenyan football in the years to come.
Located in Nambale, Busia County, in western Kenya, the academy occupies a substantial plot of land. It stands out as one of the few academies of its kind in Africa and is set to become one of the most advanced football training centers globally.
The academy will provide accommodation for a significant number of students from across the country and even internationally. Its primary objective is to identify and nurture local talent, thereby fostering the growth of football in Kenya.
A visit to the Wanyama’s Football Academy unveils an array of contemporary football facilities. These include state-of-the-art indoor stadiums, training grounds, and an educational institution where students can engage in academic and extracurricular activities.
Upon entering the premises, one is greeted by an administration block, serving as the hub for all events. Here, coaches and teachers will guide students through a variety of lessons. A newly constructed reception area welcomes visitors warmly, while upstairs offices handle player signings and transfers.
The location also features a unique classroom equipped with chalkboards, specifically designed to teach students field drawings. Furthermore, an inviting relaxation area provides students with an elegant space to enjoy video games and watch sporting events. The classrooms are well-organized, ensuring a conducive learning environment with fewer students per room.
As you wander through the corridors, you will come across the instructors’ quarters, offering accommodation for those who choose to reside within the academy premises. Numerous dormitories with double-decker beds are available for students to rest and sleep at night.
