30 Kenyans arrested urinating in the CBD ordered to clean Nairobi City Mortuary

Thirty kenyans arrested for urinating in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD) have been assigned community service duties, including cleaning the City Mortuary and other public areas. This directive was issued by Nairobi County Chief Officer for Environment, Geoffrey Mosiria, who assured that the individuals would be released after completing their cleaning tasks.

The offenders were divided into groups, with some assigned to clean Uhuru Park and others tasked with tidying up the CBD. Mosiria emphasized that these individuals would serve as examples to others, urging them to refrain from urinating in public spaces. “You will be our brand ambassadors in reminding people not to urinate in town. Let this be a lesson to others. Anyone breaking the law will be arrested, taken to court, and continue doing such tasks,” he stated.

Mosiria highlighted that the county has initiated a strict crackdown on illegal urination within Nairobi. “Anyone caught urinating on the streets of Nairobi will be arrested and face legal consequences. Tonight, 30 people have been apprehended in the CBD and will be presented in court,” he added.

The county is committed to restoring order and dignity to Nairobi. Mosiria also noted that the crackdown would extend to those who litter or dump garbage carelessly.

To address the underlying issue, the county plans to open and manage additional public facilities for waste disposal and relieving oneself, including at night, to accommodate all citizens, including those working late hours. The lack of sufficient facilities is a contributing factor to public urination, and these efforts aim to mitigate the problem.
