Political commentator and activist Robert Alai has sharply criticized Edwin Sifuna, accusing him of hypocrisy and disloyalty to his former party, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
In a pointed social media post, Alai addressed Sifuna directly, saying, “You foolish former ODM SG, you want Ruto to respect Oburu, whom you don’t respect.” He claimed that Sifuna had been undermining the party from within, alleging that former President Uhuru Kenyatta had predicted as early as February that Sifuna would no longer serve as ODM Secretary General or even remain a member because of his internal sabotage.
Alai went on to express disapproval of Sifuna’s current public support for Raila Odinga, noting that he now preaches about Baba more than anyone else despite his earlier actions against the party.
In conclusion, Alai urged Sifuna to consider forming his own political party, suggesting that leaving ODM would be the most honest course of action given the accusations of internal conflict and divided loyalties.
The post has sparked a wave of debate online, with supporters of both politicians weighing in on the claims, party loyalty, and the implications for Kenya’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
