Why President Ruto Will Win 2027 Elections at 10am -Atwoli

The Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General, Francis Atwoli, has shared his insights on why he believes President William Ruto will secure reelection in 2027. In a recent television interview, Atwoli attributed Ruto’s growing political influence to his strategic approach, which has bolstered his support in regions such as Western Kenya and Nyanza.

Atwoli noted that Ruto has forged alliances with key political figures, including former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, and Cooperative CS Wycliffe Oparanya. According to Atwoli, this coalition strengthens Ruto’s political base, making his path to reelection almost inevitable. He confidently remarked that, given Ruto’s current trajectory, he is poised to secure victory by mid-morning on election day in 2027. Atwoli dismissed other contenders as mere “noise makers,” asserting that Ruto’s strategy has already covered critical political strongholds.

Reflecting on past political contests, Atwoli advised politicians not to underestimate Ruto. He recalled how, despite the backing of former President Uhuru Kenyatta and a well-coordinated campaign in favor of Raila Odinga during the 2022 elections, they were defeated by Ruto. He highlighted Ruto’s resilience and political savvy, noting that Ruto overcame formidable challenges as an outsider and is now even more formidable as an incumbent. Atwoli suggested that betting against Ruto in 2027 would be unwise, given his sharp political acumen and fearless demeanor.

On the opposition front, Atwoli acknowledged the leadership of Kalonzo Musyoka and Eugene Wamalwa, emphasizing Kalonzo’s emergence as a key figure. However, he admitted that the opposition lacks the strength it once had under Raila Odinga. While he encouraged Kalonzo to embrace his role, Atwoli was candid in his assessment that Kalonzo’s chances of winning the presidency in 2027 are slim. He revealed that he had personally urged Kalonzo to take up the mantle of opposition leadership, given Raila’s waning political energy.

Atwoli also touched on other political dynamics, such as Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah’s potential presidential ambitions. He advised Omtatah to consult with regional leaders and prepare adequately, particularly in terms of financial resources, if he intends to mount a serious bid for the presidency. Furthermore, Atwoli proposed abolishing presidential term limits, arguing that they contribute to instability by turning politics into a short-term industry driven by impending leadership transitions.

In Atwoli’s view, Ruto’s political strategies, alliances, and inherent strengths make him a dominant force in Kenya’s political landscape, while the opposition faces significant challenges in mounting a formidable challenge.
