Busia Senator Moses Kajwang’ Onyonka has issued a sharp rebuke to ODM leaders, cautioning them against assuming loyalty from politicians who have received support from President William Ruto. Speaking pointedly, Onyonka said that even if some leaders accept financial or political backing from the president, it does not mean they are aligned with ODM or bound by party directives.
He emphasized that party affiliation and personal gain are distinct, warning that reliance on external influence should not be mistaken for genuine loyalty. Onyonka’s remarks serve as a reminder that ODM leaders cannot take the support or obedience of politicians for granted, particularly in a politically competitive environment where allegiances can shift based on opportunity.
The senator’s statement highlights ongoing tensions and the challenges of maintaining party cohesion ahead of the 2027 general elections, signaling that internal discipline and strategic engagement remain critical for ODM’s leadership to assert authority and safeguard the party’s interests.
