Gusii Governor Simba Arati has ignited controversy after making explosive claims regarding internal political disagreements within the ruling party.
In his statement, Arati said that his earlier comments advising Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to avoid entering Kisii were not his own, but rather instructions from Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i. He accused Gachagua, whom he referred to as “Gachietha,” of misrepresenting Matiang’i publicly, suggesting that this behavior was creating public resentment toward the cabinet secretary.
Arati went further to criticize Gachagua’s language, describing it as vulgar and claiming that it forced President William Ruto to intervene on behalf of Matiang’i. He framed the issue as one of loyalty and respect within the party, asserting that internal disagreements should not spill into public attacks.
The revelations have sparked debate online and within political circles, with many questioning the motives behind airing such internal conflicts publicly. Critics argue that airing party disagreements in this manner could harm cohesion within the ruling coalition, while some supporters say it exposes political maneuvering that voters should be aware of.
Arati’s statement underscores the increasingly tense dynamics within Kenya’s political leadership, highlighting challenges around communication, loyalty, and public perception ahead of upcoming elections.
