Victor Kanyari: I Used ‘Panda Mbegu ya 310’ Campaign to Con Kenyans na nikakuwa Tajiri

Kenyan preacher Prophet Victor Kanyari recently made a startling admission, confessing that his notorious ‘Mbegu ya 310’ campaign, renowned for its promises of blessings and miracles, was actually a strategic ploy to escape poverty.

In a recent sermon at his Salvation Healing Ministry church in Nairobi, Kanyari openly confessed that the call for his followers to sow a seed valued at Ksh310 was not driven by a desire to bestow blessings upon them. Rather, it was a desperate attempt to alleviate his own financial woes.

Kanyari, once self-proclaimed as the leading preacher in Nairobi, asserted, “Mimi ndio nilikuwa mhubiri anaongea Nairobi, hakukua na mwingine” (I was the preacher speaking in Nairobi; there was no one else). He distinguished himself from other prominent pastors like Ezekiel and Ng’ang’a, highlighting that despite being a prominent figure in the city, financial struggles had left him penniless.

The controversial pastor elaborated on how he initiated the ‘Mbegu ya 310’ campaign out of desperation, urging his followers to sow a seed of Ksh310 under the guise of it being a divine requirement. However, in his recent confession, Kanyari revealed that his actions were primarily motivated by his dire financial circumstances rather than any divine directive.

While acknowledging the questionable motive behind the seed planting ritual, Kanyari maintained that he possessed the anointing to perform miracles, such as healing and deliverance.

“Nikaanza kuitisha 310, lakini sikujua Mungu alinipatia akili na maarifa, pesa nitajitafutia” (I started asking for 310, but I didn’t know God had given me wisdom and knowledge; I would find money on my own), he shared during the sermon.

The preacher, whose controversial practices were exposed in a 2014 investigative report by KTN’s Jicho Pevu, disclosed that while his initial motive was financial gain, he later realized he possessed an anointing for healing. According to Kanyari, this apparent divine gift enabled him to perform miracles despite the questionable origins of the ‘Mbegu ya 310’ campaign.

Following the exposé in 2014, Kanyari faced public scrutiny, and his marriage to Kikuyu gospel singer Betty Bayo came to an end. The investigative report revealed that the miracles and blessings attributed to the seed planting ritual were meticulously stage-managed.
