Renowned Kenyan musician Stevo Simple Boy has made it clear that he would rather date a young woman who genuinely loves him than pursue a relationship with an older, wealthy woman for financial gain.
In a recent interview, the Mihadarati hitmaker expressed his preference for authentic love, stating that older, rich women—commonly referred to as mumamas—often exploit younger men. He emphasized that he values freedom and emotional connection over material possessions.
“Older women really misuse young men,” Stevo said. “A mumama may shower you with gifts and buy you a car, but once you’re in her world, you lose your freedom. I’d rather be called ‘babe’ by a young woman than be stuck in that kind of setup. I don’t chase after older women—just young ladies. Not all girls are bad; there are some really good ones out there. Even without a mumama in Nairobi, we can still make it.”
Stevo’s remarks came in response to a friend who joked that his car, house, and music studio were all funded by a mumama. Despite the peer pressure, Stevo stood firm in his beliefs.
The artist has been through two public breakups. In 2022, he ended his relationship with content creator Pritty Vishy. He later dated Grace Atieno, whom he even introduced to his family in 2023. However, the relationship ended, with Stevo citing infidelity as the reason for their split.
