Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has denied rumors that she is dating Rema, her fellow signee at Mavin Records. In an interview with Kiss FM’s Chito Ndohlovu and Cyd Wambui, she clarified that they are just rumors and that she considers Rema to be like a brother.
Ayra Starr also revealed that her collaboration with Sauti Sol’s Bien Aime Baraza only took 20 minutes to create. However, she has not yet promoted the song on her social media pages, explaining that she is currently promoting five other songs and does not want to overcrowd her page. She was at the Kiss FM studios to promote her music and her upcoming weekend show, Shoke Shoke, which will take place at the KICC on Saturday.
The song that she collaborated on with Bien Aime Baraza has already gained over 400,000 views on YouTube in just two weeks. Bien Aime Baraza explained in an interview with Mpasho’s Dennis Milimo that the song is a personal project and cannot be uploaded to the Sauti Sol channel. He added that the new YouTube channel is a way to create a better payment structure for himself and monetize his music in a more efficient way.
Although not having the song on the main Sauti Sol YouTube channel is a bit of a setback, Bien Aime Baraza sees it as a part of his growth and a way to ensure that his music is monetized properly.
