Gospel singer Bahati sparked a frenzy on social media recently by sharing a throwback photo of former Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama and his wife, Diana Marua, on X (formerly known as Twitter).
The image, accompanied by a love emoji, captured the couple smiling while taking a selfie inside a car, hinting at a romantic connection between them.
Speculations ran wild among Kenyans, with many suggesting that there might be trouble brewing in the paradise of Bahati and Diana Marua. Some even went as far as to accuse the couple of clout chasing.
Fuel was added to the fire by ongoing rumors that Bahati’s wife, Diana Marua, was previously romantically involved with Montreal Impact’s midfielder, Victor Wanyama. However, Diana took to social media to set the record straight.
During a Q&A session on Youtube, Diana clarified that she had never dated Wanyama and that their interaction was purely platonic. She explained that they met through mutual friends and simply hung out, which resulted in selfies and group photos. Diana expressed her surprise at how their friendship was blown out of proportion, with netizens focusing solely on select selfies rather than considering the context of their relationship.
Despite Diana’s clarification, online trolls continued to target her, labeling her as ‘Mama Bahati’ and perpetuating unfounded rumors.
