Robert Gakure is a true definition of God’s timing is always the best.
Gakure had a dream that one day he would be on TV and radio, but the journey was full of nightmares, thorns and hard rocks for a period of eight years.
In a recent interview with a local publication, Gakure detailed how he beat all odds saying that he finished college in 2010 with a Diploma in Media studies.
I was optimistic and landed an internship at Radio Maria in Murang’a,
he recalled.
After the internship, he started hustling for a job but everything seemed to have hit a bottom end prompting him to volunteer in the same station from 2011 to 2019.
Here,he worked for eight years without pay but that did not kill his dream.
I was a host of a gospel show and my faith kept me alive.
As days turned into months, he and two of his friends rented a bedsitter for Ksh 2,100 meaning that each of them had to pay Ksh 700 but sometimes, Robert could not raise the cash.
He revealed that they would sleep on a mattress on the floor but since they could not all fit in it, two would sleep on a sheet.
He revealed that when it came to food, he would have ugali and water for breakfast. Beating all odds, his star shown after he landed a job in October 2018 as a reporter for Mount Kenya Tv.
Gakure currently is a report at Mt. Kenya Tv and a show host at Iganjo FM and is also a singer who got nominated for Central Gospel Awards under the Xtreem Awards in 2020.
