Ex-Mungiki leader Ndura Waruinge has claimed Azimio leader Raila Odinga used him and other youths to throw stones from 2001 to 2002 for his own interests.
In a video circulating on social media, Waruinge claimed that Raila and other politicians including former president Uhuru Kenyatta have no interests of Kenyans at heart.
“Raila used me in 2001-2002 to throw stones because of his own interests. We started Mungiki with Maina Njenga and am so disappointed to see him again looped into the interests of Odinga, Kenyatta, Ruto, and Moi families,” said Waruinge.
According to Waruinge, the Azimio leader was using Kenyan youths to throw stones during protests, for his own personal interests.
Waruinge noted that politicians have always used youths, to push for personal agendas in protecting their wealth.
He also called on his friend and cousin Maina Njenga to cut links with Azimio politicians, insisting that opposition leaders were only using him.
Waruinge revealed that there was no Mungiki in Kenya but politicians were using Maina Njenga to create an impression that the outlawed group still exists.
“There is no Mungiki, but the politicians are using the former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga for their own personal gains,” he stated.
“Maina Njenga or Mungiki is being used as a barking dog so that Raila and Uhuru can be listened to,” he continued.
“For instance, when they went to Kamukunji, Maina was given prominence, in Nyeri again Maina was given prominence, to create an impression that Mungiki was still active and may cause havoc in the country, they were not interested in Maina,” he added.
Waruinge narrated that When Maina Njenga was recently arrested, the Azimio leaders were not there to support him.
“If Maina was important to them, why didn’t they include him in the ongoing national dialogue team?” Waruinge asked.
He pointed out that the Azimio leaders were only keen on safeguarding their interests, and there is no change they are fighting for.
“The same people are still using us, calling us young people, to go and throw stones because of their interests,” he stated.
He warned Maina to cease associating with Raila and Uhuru and create personal strategies that would make him prominent if he wanted to become a leader.
“Unless Maina starts his own journey to fight for leadership, he will not become one through supporting the current political class,” he concluded.
