“Raila Odinga said ODM party will prepare for the 2027 general elections. Those spreading other information, Raila asked, ‘Who told you that?’ So, we will follow the last standing instructions”-Edwin Sifuna

ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna has reaffirmed that the Orange Democratic Movement is gearing up for the 2027 general elections under the guidance of party leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking to supporters, Sifuna clarified that contrary to rumors suggesting uncertainty about Raila’s political future, the former Prime Minister has already directed the party to begin full preparations for the next polls.

“Raila Odinga himself said that the ODM party will prepare for the 2027 general elections. To those spreading other information, Raila asked, ‘Who has told you that?’ So, we will follow the last standing instructions,” Sifuna stated.

The Nairobi Senator emphasized that ODM remains united and focused on strengthening its grassroots structures ahead of 2027. He added that Raila’s word remains final in the party, and members should not be distracted by speculation or propaganda.

Sifuna’s remarks come amid ongoing political realignments and debates over whether Raila might take up an international role or continue leading local politics. His statement now appears to settle the matter — at least for now — confirming that ODM will proceed under Raila’s direction as it prepares for the next election cycle.

Political observers view the reaffirmation as a move to rally party loyalists and maintain momentum as ODM positions itself as a formidable force in Kenya’s 2027 political landscape.
