Police uncover KSh13 million bhang in a Toyota Noah in Mariakani 2 arrested

A multi-agency team in Mariakani, Kilifi County, has arrested two suspected drug traffickers found in possession of bhang valued at over KSh13 million.

The suspects, Crispin Oduor Owino and his co-driver Caleb Otieno Agolo, were apprehended by detectives from Moi International Airport and the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) in Mombasa at the Mariakani Weighbridge.

Acting on a tip-off, the officers intercepted a silver Toyota Noah vehicle (registration number KBQ 605K) driven by Owino and Agolo, where they uncovered a significant haul of bhang.

“Inside the vehicle, the officers discovered sixteen sacks and two hundred twenty-six large sticks of Cannabis Sativa,” the DCI reported. “Further searching revealed a number plate, KBW 664P, concealed under the driver’s seat.”

The suspects, along with the seized narcotics, were taken to the Moi International Airport Police Station for further investigation. The DCI confirmed that the recovered substances, analyzed by the government chemist, were identified as Cannabis Sativa (bhang), weighing 456 kilograms and valued at KSh13,680,000.
