Oburu Odinga: Rigathi Gachagua is Free to Visit Bondo and Pay His Respects to Raila”Tuwache Siasa Za Ujinga”

Oburu Odinga has addressed emerging claims that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has allegedly barred Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua from visiting Bondo to mourn the late Raila Odinga. In a firm statement, Oburu dismissed the allegations as false and misleading, emphasizing that the family and ODM have not imposed any restrictions on anyone wishing to pay their respects.

According to Oburu, Deputy President Gachagua, like every other Kenyan, enjoys the constitutional right to move freely and visit any part of the country, including Bondo. He stressed that such rights are not limited by political affiliations or differences in opinion, especially during a time of national mourning.

Oburu further noted that Raila Odinga’s death has deeply affected people across political, ethnic, and regional divides. He called on Kenyans to treat this period as a time for unity and reflection rather than political bickering or spreading divisive rumors. “This is not the time to create tension or sow discord. Let us come together in respect and solidarity,” he urged.

The statement comes amid heated online discussions, with some social media users claiming that ODM supporters had rejected plans by Gachagua to attend the funeral. Oburu’s clarification now puts to rest the speculation, reaffirming that the Odinga family welcomes all leaders, regardless of their political stance, to join them in honoring Raila’s legacy.

Oburu reiterated that the family’s focus is on celebrating Raila Odinga’s lifelong service to the nation and ensuring his send-off is conducted with dignity, peace, and respect.
