Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has finally revealed the real origin of his now-viral slogan, “Noma si noma, fire si fire.”
Speaking in Mombasa on September 17 during the launch of the Mombasa Commuter Rail Service, Kindiki shocked the crowd when he admitted the phrase wasn’t fully his.
“I have to confess that this ‘noma si noma’ belongs to my brother, Hassan Joho,” he said, before joking that they had agreed on how to share the slogan. “Joho will stick with ‘noma si noma’, and I’ll keep *‘fire si fire.’”
The revelation left the audience in laughter, but it also highlighted a new chapter in Kenyan politics.
Former Mombasa Governor, now Mining CS Hassan Joho, praised the Kenya Kwanza administration’s development projects at the Coast and urged residents to support President Ruto’s agenda — a major shift from his days in the opposition.
The shared slogan, once street slang, has now become a unifying chant at rallies — symbolizing a surprising bond between two political heavyweights who were once on opposite sides.
