Njugush: Why I’ve ventured into matatu business

Popular comedian Timothy Kimani, famously known as Njugush, and his wife, Celestine Ndinda, have surprised many by venturing into the matatu industry with the launch of their own matatu, named after their eldest son, Tugi.

Njugush’s comedic background might seem an unlikely precursor to this move, but he recently revealed the reasoning behind it. He explained that diversifying their business interests is part of a broader strategy, emphasizing the importance of exploring various opportunities. Njugush expressed his eagerness to explore avenues like farming, highlighting the need for artists to invest wisely in ventures beyond entertainment.

In expressing gratitude for the support received, Njugush credited close friends such as Butita, Abel Mutua, Judy Mutua, and Philip Karanja, whose pictures adorn the interior of their matatu. He attributed their success not only to hard work but also to the guiding hand of God.

The launch of their matatu, bearing their son’s name, promises a luxurious and comfortable ride for passengers. Personal touches, such as photos of their close friends, add a unique and sentimental dimension to the matatu’s design. Njugush hopes for the support of Kenyans in this new venture, expressing optimism for its success.
