“Nitawatoa jela Wote”: Kasparet MP Oscar Sudi forgives protesters who destroyed his club Timba XO

Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has embraced a spirit of forgiveness as the new year begins. The lawmaker announced that he has pardoned those who wronged him in 2024, including individuals involved in the vandalism of his nightclub, Timba XO. Sudi also pledged to facilitate the release of those still in custody for their actions.

During a New Year’s Eve celebration at the Eldoret Sports Club, Sudi addressed a crowd of revellers, delivering a heartfelt message of reconciliation. He stated:

“Hata mimi mwenyewe kama nimewai kukosea, nisamehe. Hata wale walinikosea mwaka jana, nimewasamehea na hata wale walinichomea ile mahali, nitawatoa jela.”

Translated, he expressed his willingness to forgive both those who had wronged him personally and those responsible for attacking his business.

A Business Under Siege

Timba XO, a nightclub Sudi had acquired and renovated, became a target during protests against the Finance Bill in mid-2024. In June, demonstrators stormed the establishment, pelting it with stones that shattered its expensive windows. Some protesters attempted to force their way into the club, chanting slogans such as “Ruto must go.”

Despite the significant damage to his property, Sudi has chosen a path of compassion. He assured the public that he harbors no ill will toward the vandals and will ensure their release from custody.

A Message of Reconciliation

Sudi’s gesture of forgiveness has sparked conversations about leadership, empathy, and the ability to rise above personal grievances. As he begins 2025 with this reconciliatory move, it remains to be seen how his actions will influence the political and social landscape in Kapseret and beyond.
