In Kenya, a bizarre video has gone viral showing a 27-year-old man from Kisii confessing to having a sexual relationship with a banana tree. The revelation, made during the “Toboa Siri” (reveal your secrets) segment on Radio Jambo’s reggae show hosted by Mbusii and Lion, has left many Kenyans both shocked and amused.
The man explained that his unusual behavior stemmed from a deep fear of contracting HIV/AIDS after losing his favorite uncle to the disease. Terrified of engaging with women and unable to abstain from sex altogether, he said he resorted to an alternative—drilling a hole into a banana tree to satisfy his urges.
According to him, this method gave him comfort and peace of mind, as he believed it was a much safer option compared to being with women. Despite pressure from his parents to marry, the man insisted he had no interest in women and considered the banana tree his partner.
“Mimi nimezoea kulala na mgomba wa ndizi. Sitaki wasichana kabisa, hao wanaweza niambukiza Ukimwi. Wazazi wamejaribu kuniambia nioe lakini wapi. Ile kitu hawajui ni ati niko na bibi yangu—hii mgomba wa ndizi—na huwa naskia vizuri sana,” he boldly declared on air.
The confession has since gone viral, sparking heated reactions across social media, particularly on TikTok. While some Kenyans expressed disbelief and concern, others found humor in the bizarre admission.
This unusual story highlights how fear and trauma can drive people into strange coping mechanisms—though, in this case, the Kisii man insists he is perfectly content with his unconventional choice.
