Nevnina Onyango, the heartbroken wife of the late Albert Ojwang, has emotionally appealed for justice following the sudden and painful loss of her husband.
Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV, the nursing student and mother of one recalled their final conversation—a chilling moment that continues to haunt her.
Albert, a popular blogger and teacher, had expressed concern for his safety shortly after being arrested in Kakoth, Kasipul Kabondo, Homa Bay County on Saturday, June 7, while having lunch with his family.
Nevnina remembered his last words vividly: “He was asking if he was safe, because he wasn’t sure if he was okay in police custody.”
Struggling to come to terms with the loss, Nevnina has spent the past week in Nairobi seeking answers and pushing for justice. She insisted that no one should ever fear for their life while in the hands of law enforcement.
“It’s devastating to lose someone under such cruel circumstances,” she said, fighting back tears. “We may never bring him back, but holding those responsible accountable will bring us peace.”
The young widow, who had only been married to Albert for two months, is urging Kenyans to stand with her in demanding justice. “Help us fight for Albert. Help us make sure this never happens to another family,” she pleaded.
As part of the ongoing investigation, three more suspects have reportedly been arrested, and a partially deleted CCTV clip has been recovered. The family continues to hold onto hope that justice will be served.
On Father’s Day, Nevnina shared touching screenshots of her conversations with Albert, in which he expressed his joy as a father and family man. She promised their son will grow up knowing and honoring his late father’s legacy.
