Gengetone entertainer, VDJ Jones has threatened to sue Citizen TV and its Nipashe News reporter, Gatete Njoroge for airing a fake story that the DJ’s was dead.
In what seemed like a mistaken identity, Gatete presumably was supposed to report on VDJ Jones friend, Dj Mike Kay who passed away while receiving treatment last week.
“I really dont know what happened but today is the saddest day. Rest in Peace brother. I trained u kuwa DJ, I branded u DJ Mike Kay..The Heat Master! Music is my game God knows best. RIP @dj_mike_kay💔💔.”
Jones took to social media to address the issue and warned the TV station for airing such news.
“I wish to deassociate myself from this report by Citizen TV Nipashe News. Am alive and kicking. Mbona mnaniua mapema?I will press charges against @citizentvkenya and the reporter Gatete Njoroge.@gatetenjoroge.”
After the DJ threatened to sue the station, it’s representatives aplogized for using the wrong picture.
“During our earlier broadcast at 7PM, we inadvertently used the wrong pictures of VDJ Jones while making reference to DJ Mike Kay, whose body was retrieved from River Mathioya in Murang’a County.”
Addding;
“We have since established that the two were friends an VDJ Jones had posted a picture together with the disease whilst mourning him.We have reached out to VDJ Jones and apologized,” read Trevor Ombija said.
