Kenyan fitness influencer Gachau Njoroge has left many people shocked after revealing that he uses livestock deworming drugs to rid his body of parasites.
In a viral video, Gachau, who is well known for his motivational fitness content, displayed fenbendazole and ivermectin—medications typically meant for animals—which he purchases from agrovet shops.
He explained that he deworms every three months and, instead of using the common Albendazole, prefers mixing fenbendazole and ivermectin with yoghurt before consuming it on an empty stomach.
Gachau cautioned his followers not to imitate his method without professional guidance, but his disclosure has nonetheless sparked a heated debate online. Many Kenyans expressed concern that using veterinary drugs on humans could pose serious health risks.
However, others argued that some animal medications share similarities with human prescriptions, though they stressed such drugs should only be used responsibly and under medical supervision.
