In Alego, Siaya County, a wave of jubilation swept through the community as a young girl who once sold groundnuts to support her elderly grandmother achieved a remarkable B Plain in the recently released Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results.
Vienda, who had been the subject of heartwarming photos alongside her beloved grandmother before joining high school, and later with philanthropist Silas Odhiambo Apuoyo Biggy after receiving her KCSE results, gained widespread attention for her outstanding accomplishment.
Her success story is closely tied to Rangala Secondary School in Ugenya, Siaya County, which played a crucial role in her academic journey.
When Vienda was admitted to the school, she had nothing to her name, according to Kisumu philanthropist Silas Odhiambo Apuoyo Biggy. Faced with her grandmother’s inability to afford her school fees, Vienda took it upon herself to sell groundnuts to support her elderly guardian.
“As her grandmother couldn’t pay for her education, Vienda started selling groundnuts to provide for the old lady,” Apuoyo shared with TUKO.co.ke.
Vienda’s achievement sparked an outpouring of congratulations and admiration from people across the country:
Jaramogi Hazard: “Congratulations to her. I remember the day we took her to Rangala.”
Prime Knight: “No religion is greater than truth, and no faith is greater than fact… I see God here.”
Harriet Maleche: “Congratulations to the young lady; she has done us proud.”
Mopao Hezron: “Congratulations to her, and thank you for your good work and big heart, Biggy Besha.”
BN Barakawilliam: “Glory to the most high… congratulations.”
Paul Williums: “Congratulations to her. May God continue to see her through.”
