A cloud of grief hangs heavily over a family in Lugari, Kakamega County, after the brutal killing of 22-year-old Faith Kiliswa Namakwangwachi, a fourth-year student at Alupe University. Her death comes barely three weeks after her mother’s burial, leaving her father devastated and questioning his fate.
On Tuesday, September 16, Faith checked into a lodging in Matete with her boyfriend, Dubicuss Wafula. Hours later, her lifeless body was discovered with multiple stab wounds. Wafula fled the scene but was later arrested in Muhoroni as he attempted to escape to Nairobi. Police have since confirmed he remains the prime suspect and will face charges once investigations are complete.

For Faith’s 48-year-old father, the loss has been unbearable. Still reeling from the sudden death of his wife due to cardiac arrest, he is now forced to bury his daughter.
“I lost my wife only weeks ago, and now my daughter is gone. I don’t even know where to begin,” he said, fighting back tears.
Despite financial hardship, he revealed that he had sacrificed everything to ensure Faith stayed in school. Relatives and neighbors often chipped in, supporting her dream of graduating in 2026.
“People called me poor, but I was determined. Today I am left with nothing but pain,” he added.
The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the community. Neighbors described Faith as a disciplined, hardworking, and ambitious young woman whose life was cut short just as she was preparing to step into her future. Villagers have been gathering at the family’s home, offering comfort as the father struggles to cope with the devastating double tragedy.
As police prepare their case against Wafula, the grieving family is left to prepare for yet another burial. For Faith’s father, the weight of loss is overwhelming, but he clings to the memory of a daughter whose dreams were extinguished far too soon.
“She had big dreams, but they ended too soon,” he said quietly, his voice breaking under the weight of sorrow.
