Kithure Kindiki drew praise from sections of residents after he declined to be shielded from heavy rain while addressing a public gathering in Nakuru.
As downpour pounded the area, aides reportedly attempted to hold an umbrella over him. However, the Deputy President waved it off, insisting he would stand in the rain alongside wananchi. “Mvua haiwezi uwa mtu, kama wananchi wananyeshewa pia mimi wacha ninyeshewe!” he said, emphasizing solidarity with the crowd.
The symbolic gesture was interpreted by supporters as a show of humility and shared experience with ordinary citizens. Videos circulating online captured residents cheering as he continued delivering his speech despite the weather.
The moment has since sparked mixed reactions, with some applauding his resilience and others viewing it as political symbolism. Either way, the rainy-day address has added to the ongoing conversation about leadership style and public connection.
