Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has accused the government of President William Ruto of deliberately disrupting his political meetings.
Speaking during a recent address, Gachagua claimed that his public gatherings are often interfered with because the government allegedly fears his growing influence within the opposition.
According to him, he has become one of the most influential figures within the emerging opposition movement and commands strong support from the public.
“Mikutano yangu inapangiwa fujo na hii serikali ya William Ruto kwa sababu mimi ndio wananiogopa sana kwa hii team ya united opposition mzima kwa sababu mimi ndio ninapendwa na watu na mimi tu ndio niko na nguvu ya kuongelesha watu wakanisikiza na wakaniamini,” Gachagua stated.
The former deputy president argued that his ability to mobilize and communicate with citizens has made him a key figure in the opposition, claiming this is why some of his meetings allegedly face disruptions.
His remarks come at a time when political tensions are rising as leaders begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general election, with both government allies and opposition figures intensifying their campaigns across the country.
