Nakuru police are currently probing a troubling incident reported by a man who alleges he was robbed shortly after withdrawing a significant amount of money from a local bank.
The incident unfolded in Nakuru town and involved the theft of Sh750,000 from the victim, who holds a managerial position at a children’s home in the Subukia area.
According to the victim’s narrative, he had visited a Nakuru bank on Wednesday afternoon to withdraw the funds, earmarked for the children’s home. However, his plans were thwarted when, while en route along Milimani Road, he was intercepted by a saloon car carrying three armed individuals.
The assailants, armed with pistols and a pocket phone, forcibly removed the victim from his vehicle and bundled him into theirs, leaving his car stranded in the middle of the road.
The victim described being transported to the Kiamunyi area by the suspects, who then fled with the stolen cash and his mobile phone. Fortunately, with the help of a bodaboda rider, the victim managed to return to his vehicle, though understandably shaken by the harrowing experience.
Upon receiving the alert, law enforcement promptly responded to the scene and found the victim’s vehicle abandoned without its ignition key. Inside the vehicle, they discovered a small pocket phone, potentially offering a lead in their investigation.
Authorities suspect the robbery may have involved insider knowledge. They are currently interviewing bank staff and scrutinizing security footage in an attempt to identify the culprits.
