Antony Mwangi found himself in a harrowing situation when he received a client on a Friday evening. The client had requested to be dropped off at a location known as Zebra in Zimmerman. Little did Antony know that this routine ride would take a violent turn.
Narrating the incident to Paxson Tv, Antony revealed that upon reaching the destination, the male client asked him to accompany him to his apartment on the pretext of collecting a payment of Ksh 200. Trusting the seemingly amiable client, Antony followed him to the fourth floor of the building.
Initially, everything appeared normal, with the client even offering Antony refreshments. However, the situation quickly escalated when Antony declined the offer and the client’s demeanor shifted dramatically. The man became hostile, forcibly took Antony’s phone, and demanded inappropriate actions, using threatening language.
Antony, shocked and alarmed, resisted the advances, leading to a physical altercation. At one point, the aggressor kissed him and, with excessive force, bit off a portion of Antony’s lip. The distressing incident prompted Antony’s cries for help, attracting the attention of nearby neighbors who rushed to the scene to provide initial assistance.
Law enforcement officers arrived promptly, arresting the assailant and transporting him to Kasarani police station. Despite the arrest, dismay spread among fellow Bodaboda riders as the suspect managed to secure his release the following day.
Expressing their concern, the riders highlighted the vulnerability they face in their line of work. Clients, initially appearing harmless, can turn hostile unexpectedly, putting riders at risk. They emphasized the need to exercise caution and avoid following clients to their residences to prevent similar incidents from occurring.
In solidarity with Antony Mwangi, the Bodaboda community wished him a swift recovery while collectively grappling with the broader issue of safety and the challenges they encounter on a daily basis.
