Makori Ongechi Who Was Fired From Citizen TV For Soliciting Money From Governor Now Sells Fruits To Survive

Citizen TV was forced to terminate the employment of Joshua Makori Ongechi in 2021 due to gross misconduct. The decision to sack Makori was made after receiving multiple complaints against him.

Makori was accused of extorting money from former West Pokot governor John Lonyangapuo and was subsequently fired from his position at Citizen TV. It was alleged that he had prepared a video purportedly produced by the station, which he used to solicit money from Lonyangapuo.

In addition to this, Makori was accused of engaging in unethical behavior by soliciting money from the management of an institution after visiting a school in pursuit of a story about students being fed expired food. These actions were in violation of the Employment Act, and as a result, Royal Media Service (RMS) terminated his services.

Following his dismissal from Citizen TV, Makori turned his attention to agriculture. He now sells fruits and other agricultural produce such as tomatoes, avocados, and bananas, which he orders from Kisii and sells in Nairobi.
